KAYAK HIRE

There are few better ways to explore the Isles of Scilly than from the water, and kayaking gives you the freedom to do it at your own pace. St Martins Watersports offers kayak hire from the beach on St Martins – with no experience required and everything you need included.

Whether you fancy a gentle paddle along the shoreline, a crossing to a neighbouring island, or simply finding your own quiet cove, a hired kayak puts the archipelago within reach.

DO I NEED EXPERIENCE?

Not at all. Sit-on-top kayaks are stable, easy to get in and out of, and straightforward to paddle – even for complete beginners. Our team will give you a quick briefing before you head off, covering the basics of paddling, how to stay safe, and where to go. If you've never been in a kayak before, you'll be comfortable on the water within minutes.

That said, the Isles of Scilly are an open-water environment. We'll always check conditions before you head out and advise you on the safest routes for the day. Safety is our priority, and we'll never send you out in conditions that aren't suitable.

WHERE CAN I GO?

The waters around St Martins are some of the clearest in Britain. On a calm day you can see straight to the seabed – a constant reminder of just how special this place is. From the beach you can paddle out to the Eastern Isles, explore further afield to Tean and Tresco, visit a magical sandbar,or simply hug the coastline and mess around in the shallows.

WHAT OUR CUSTOMERS SAY

Peter A .jpg

Brilliant experience, two lovely paddles including seal spotting by the Eastern Isles, a picnic on a deserted island and a landing on the gorgeous sandbar.

We had the most incredible kayaking experience as a group of 6. Robin gave us all the info we needed and made sure we felt safe before setting off on our adventure! We saw seals and explored uninhabited islands - it was incredible. Such an amazing way to explore the Scilly Isles - we’ll be back!
